Hello from Mary! Receptionist & Administrative Assistant
Mary is the first friendly face you’ll see coming through our door on Monday through Friday! Mary has been with Tailored Tails full time since shortly after we opened in 2008, and we don’t know what we’d do without her!
Mary has gained a tremendous amount of knowledge about the grooming world since working with us. After a couple months with us, she once said she was “shocked, absolutely shocked, at how much she never knew and has learned about grooming”. Even though this is the case, Mary is not a Groomer and still has some of that ‘customer viewpoint’. We believe this is a huge advantage in helping us to communicate effectively between client and Groomer.
Mary’s previous career was in the dental field (humans) for 22 years. She then spent 10 years as a stay-at-home Mom before returning to the workplace. Mary has 3 dogs – Daisy, a Peke-a-Poo; Duke, a Golden Retriever; and Bogie, a Golden Retriever.
And this is Becky! Groomer
& Pet Stylist, NCG, CFMG
Becky began grooming about 15 years ago when she got a new Miniature Schnauzer puppy. Seeming to have a ‘knack’ for it, friends and neighbors began asking her to groom their dogs as well. Jump forward –
Becky decided to attend a professional grooming academy to learn what it was all about. This first academy only excited the passion for working with pets, and she graduated in 2006. Since then Becky has attended two additional professional academies for advanced education in dog grooming, including hand stripping. She has also achieved the title of National Certified Groomer through the NDGAA as well as Certified Feline Master Groomer through the NCGIA. Becky also regularly attends expos, trade shows, seminars, and workshops to keep up with continuing education in the grooming field.
With two rescue dogs and 3 rescued cats – a Border Jack named Gypsy, a Miniature Poodle named Milo, a bicolor ‘mask & mantle’ cat named Ping, a brown patched tabby & white cat named Haile, and a beautiful blue cream cat named Jessie, Becky stays busy with grooming beyond just our Tailored Tails clients. She loves grooming and watching the transformation from smelly and scruffy to fresh and fluffy!
“Working with the animals is rewarding, fun, and even therapeutic. With the opening of Tailored Tails Grooming Salon & Pet Spa, Inc., I hope to show our community what a truly professional grooming salon can and should be. Regulation for our industry is very much needed! We hope to share our professional knowledge with pet owners so that every pet can receive the grooming care they need and deserve.
Meet Sabrina! Groomer & Pet Stylist
Sabrina loves working with pets and understands the attachment and bond we develop with them. Wanting to see pets only in loving hands, Sabrina is gentle and calm with every pet she grooms and they respond well to her. She says, “I’m thrilled to say that I’m a Groomer at Tailored Tails Grooming Salon!”
Sabrina has five years of grooming experience and first trained for two years under a Groomer with 20-plus years experience at a salon in Virginia before moving to Colorado. She then continued her grooming career for a large corporate location and achieved her Certification through their training program. After working her way into Salon Management and spending two years there, Sabrina wanted to further her grooming career and felt stepping away from the corporate environment was the best way to achieve that.
“I feel that I’m offering our community the quality service I’m capable of”, Sabrina says. She is currently involved in study for Certification through the National Dog Groomers Association of America (NDGAA) and has high hopes of becoming a National Certified Master Groomer (NCMG). Sabrina has always loved pets and can’t imagine her life without her four-legged babies, Orion, Ender, Isis, and Karma. She hopes to meet you and your furry friends soon!
Greetings from Alli, Groomer & Pet Stylist
Alli is one of the most gentle, soft-spoken souls you’ll ever have the pleasure to meet. Our fluffy clients respond well to her quiet nature, giving her the gift of comfort to the nervous ones. Plus, she does excellent grooming!
Alli attended Southeast Missouri University before enrolling in a professional grooming academy. She graduated with her grooming Certificate in 2008 and followed with working in a privately owned salon to gain experience.
As the newest member of our team, we feel fortunate to have her at Tailored Tails Grooming Salon and hope she’ll be with us for years to come as we continue to grow!
Introducing Andrea!
Senior Bather & Prep Groomer
Andrea is a friendly and intelligent girl who works like the energizer bunny! In her position she takes great pride in keeping our Bathing & Drying Department organized, clean, safe, and running efficiently. More importantly, she’s great with the dogs!
Andrea worked as a Certified Medical Assistant (for humans) for a number of years and, after deciding to make a career change, enrolled in PIMA Medical Institute. She graduated as a Veterinary Assistant & Certified Pet Nurse with a 4.0 grade average and perfect attendance! Wow! We are very fortunate to have someone with Andrea’s skills on our team!
Tailored Tails Grooming Salon appreciates having Andrea with us since May 2010. Andrea says, “I love my job and I am very passionate about what I do. Here at Tailored Tails, I have the best of both worlds; I get to work with dogs all day and then get to go home and be a Mom.”
Andrea has three rescued Pit Bulls – Sancha, age 3; Riot, age 1&1/2; and Kymira, age 3 months.
Heeere’s Lori! Bather Brusher
This writer thinks Lori’s photo says a lot about her! Always cheerful and upbeat, Lori continuously works hard. Always thorough and efficient, she manages to keep all pets safe and comfortable while maintaining a calm environment in our bathing and drying rooms. She has a gift for “reading” the animals’ behavior and is endlessly patient and gentle with them.
Lori began working in a grooming salon at the age of 14 and has worked with dogs and cats her entire life. Sorry, I don’t think we can tell you how many years that adds up to, or we might give away her age! (Wink! Several decades!) She has experience with grooming quite a few breeds to ready them for the show ring and some training experience as well, although she prefers to work with pets now as a Bather.
Lori has a thorough understanding of skin and coat care; correct bathing, drying, and fluffing the coat are critically important steps to accomplish beautiful grooming. Having a Bather that understands this importance is a blessing for our Groomers to achieve a beautiful haircut. We are lucky to have Lori on our team!
Lori has two rescue dogs and cats – Oden, a Cattle Dog mix; Hope, a Shepherd mix; Boo, a short haired red tabby; and Big Puff, a long haired red tabby.
Welcome Aubrey, Bather Brusher
Aubrey is our newest addition to the team and she’ll be working on Saturdays and possibly some of our busier times as we near the holidays. She’s currently a college student and works part time.
Aubrey grew up hanging around her Dad’s Veterinary Hospital and, as a result, has become an expert with dog and cat handling skills and their needs for professional grooming. She also has experience for over a year working at a popular boarding kennel and as a pet Bather.
She’s doing an excellent job and the pets love Aubrey. We’re thrilled to have Aubrey as another addition to the Tailored Tails Grooming Salon team!
